What is the Analog Discovery 2?

Digilent Analog Discovery 2 is a USB oscilloscope, logic analyser, and multi-function instrument that allows users to measure, visulaise, generate, record, and control mixed-signal circuits of all kinds. This test and measurement device is small enough to fit in your pocket, but powerful enough to replace a stack of lab equipment, providing engineering professionals, students, hobbyists. and electronic enthusiasts the freedom to work with analog and digital circuits in virtually any environment, in or out of the lab. The analog and digital inputs and outputs can be connected to a circuit using simple wire probes; alternatively, the Analog Discovery BNC Adapter and BNC probes can be used to connect and utilise the inputs and outputs.

Driven by the free WaveForms software (Mac, Linux, and Windows compatible) software, Analog Discovery 2 can be configured to work as any one of several traditional test and measurement instruments including an Oscilloscope, Waveform Generator, Power Supply, Voltmeter, Data Logger, Logic Analyser, Pattern Generator, Static I/O, Spectrum Analyser, Network Analyser, Impedance Analyser, and Protocol Analyser.

An Ecosystem of Adapters

Since its launch, we’ve developed an ecosystem of adapter boards and accessories inspired (and sometimes designed) by customers. With these accessories, additional functionality can be added including BNC probes, impedance analysis, curve tracer, and even a breadboard.

What is the Analog Discovery Studio?

The Analog Discovery Studio is a fully-functional portable test and measurement device that can turn any cross-functional space into a pop-up electronics laboratory. Equipped with 13 instruments including an Oscilloscope, Logic Analyser, Spectrum Analyser, Waveform Generator, and more; the Analog Discovery Studio provides an entire stack of benchtop instruments with a convenient breadboardable interface, perfect for enabling circuit design anywhere!

Portable Design

The Analog Discovery Studio is designed to be a compact alternative to a stack of benchtop equipment. Its durable enclosure measures 1.25 x 9.25 x 7.5 inches and fits on a bench, desktop, or backpack. Students can access the Oscilloscope and Waveform Generators via breadboardable MTE cables, or industry standard BNC cables, and the Logic Analyser, Pattern Generator, and Triggers can be accessed via MTE cables.

Circuits or designs can be built on the included, magnetically connected Breadboard Canvas and conveniently swapped out or removed for transit, making the transition from working in the lab to working at home as seamless as possible. The Breadboard Canvas also includes power supply outputs controlled by physical switches, common I/O built-in, and a large breadboardable surface. The Breadboard Canvas and the cost-optimised Blank Canvas can be purchased separately in the event that an extra is needed, or if the breadboards wear out.

Analog Discovery Pro introduces Linux Mode. Linux Mode provides an on-device terminal-based operating system that, when combined with WaveForms SDK, is a flexible starting point for all kinds of custom tests and applications. Running embedded on the device itself or via WaveForms, engineers and measurement enthusiasts alike can take advantage of data streaming via ethernet, and the on-device storage to capture buffers of millions of samples.

Advanced Trigger Modes

Analog Discovery Pro features a variety of advanced triggering options. Instruments within WaveForms can be cross-triggered for example, activating an oscilloscope capture based on a received and decoded digital protocol. And external signals can trigger events using the two dedicated external trigger inputs on the back of the device. WaveForms provides these features configurable in the instruments themselves, or for more control or automation in one of the available scripting interfaces.

What is the Digital Discovery?

The Digilent Digital Discovery™ is a combined logic analyser, protocol analyser, and pattern generator instrument that was created to be the ultimate embedded development companion compatible with a wide variety of digital systems. Digital Discovery was designed to optimise channels, speed, and portability. A small form factor facilitates easy storage and provides a whole suite of advanced features to allow you to debug, visulaise, and simulate digital signals for most embedded projects.

Digital Signals Meet Flexibility

Digital signals are prolific in the engineering world making conveniently interpreting and producing digital signals a critical part of the engineers benchtop. Traditional logic analysers are typically designed for a specific system with set specifications. The Digital Discovery was designed to be the most flexible logic analyser on the market, able to be reconfigured on the fly at the touch of a button. Test one design with all 32 channels at 3.3V, then switch to another design requiring the maximum sample rate at the full 800 MS/s and any other logic level between 1.2V and 3.3V, all with the same device.

Digital inputs and outputs can be connected to a circuit using simple wire probes or breadboard wires; alternatively, the Digital Discovery High Speed Adapter and impedance-matched probes can be used ensure signal integrity on higher speed signals.
