MCP4801-E/P is an 8bit buffered voltage output digital-to-analogue converter with internal VREF and SPI interface. The device operates from a single 2.7V to 5.5V supply with an SPI compatible serial peripheral interface. The device has a high precision internal voltage reference (VREF = 2.048V). The device can be operated in active or shutdown mode by setting a configuration register bit or using the active-low SHDN pin. In shutdown mode, most of the internal circuits, including the output amplifier, are turned off for power savings, while the amplifier output (VOUT) stage is configured to present a known high resistance output load (500Kohm typical). Application includes set point or offset trimming, sensor calibration, precision selectable voltage reference, portable instrumentation (battery-powered), calibration of optical communication devices.

- Slew rate is 0.55V/µs typ (VDD = 5V, VSS = 0V, VREF = 2.048V, TA = -40 to +85°C)
- Settling time is 4.5µs typ (Within ½ LSb of final value from ¼ to ¾ full-scale range)
- Operating current is 330µA typ (VDD = 5V, VSS = 0V, VREF = 2.048V, TA = -40 to +85°C)
- 8 pin DIP package, extended operating temperature range from -40 to 125°C
